Time Management for Single Parents
I have always considered myself being a prepared individual however found quickly I’d to improve my game while I began working from your home. Just generating a TO DO list and checking off items has not been cutting it.
First, you can find quite a few distractions that will get you off track quickly if you allowed them to. Calling was my enemy. If it rang, I picked it. I didn’t care only what food was in the center of a project, I still picked it up. Telling myself We would only be for the phone for some minutes, the conversation always took longer than I allotted. As soon as I finished, I used to be off track and playing get caught up through out the day (or worse, in the night). Anyone who knows me well knows that I am not really a night person!
So, I had to put some procedures into destination for a make working from home successful. May possibly not seem “sexy” however had to take action.
1. I created a schedule that included work, housework and homeschooling. Creating the schedule was the straightforward part – sticking going without running shoes took work however I think I have it down pat. I dedicate the a . m . to the children and lessons and the afternoon to my work. I emailed the schedule to friends to make sure they knows if it is better to reach me by phone
and they’ve been wonderful with this. I return calls in the afternoon or respond via email during the afternoon.
2. Eliminating time wasters was next. I research topics for articles and can find myself easily drifting up to Facebook to see what my buddies do. Which had to quit – I check out Facebook specific times through the day by leaving it during that.
3. I don’t buy takeaway food (it is not affordable instead of very healthy) so I prepare my meals. The crockpot is my pal! I will often have my dinner inside crockpot before 9am and also by 4pm (whenever we have dinner), it is done. I adore that! No running into the kitchen in the late considering what you should fix. Along with the house smells decent during the day while I am
working! Which leads me to meal planning…
4. I only go the food market every 2 weeks, with the occasional go to the particular store for milk. How? Every Two weeks, I plan our meals for an additional 2 weeks. Using this planning, I create my grocery list, add my coupons, note the sales and voila! Done! I place the meal planner about the refrigerator so everybody knows what is on tap for the day. The boys make his or her breakfast and lunch.
5. I sort and load laundry the night time before, place it in the washer and start the washer the next day. As you move the boys are eating lunch, the clothes get used in the dryer and also the boys fold at dusk.
So far, delicious – the schedule is holding up. They have also made the boys quite independent and they go through the schedule as well as I do. With cooperation, planning and perseverance, operating from home is a blessing.
